The BAF is working with university partners to establish Satellites in each of the 10 FEMA-designated regions throughout the country. BAF Satellites can involve one or more universities, and will host professional development workshops, recruit Fellows, and support their involvement in hazards research involving issues unique to their local region. Established university partners have reported that students from historically underrepresented backgrounds have specifically referenced the connection to the BAF as a key motivator for their graduate program applications. We are in the process of developing satellites in Regions 3, 6, 8, and 9. Please contact us at hello@billandersonfund.org to learn more.
We work to develop important partnerships with academic institutions beyond our Satellites. These academic partners may host workshops or virtual offerings or otherwise become involved in our direct programming. Our partners include academic institutions and universities such as the University of Colorado Boulder and The Natural Hazards Center, Texas A&M University, and Arizona State University.
